EZiDIG wins SED Award for Excellence
Simon Hogg accepts SED Award for Excellence

Staffordshire, April 2008

Scanlaser, the official distribution channel for the EZiDIG were presented with an SED Award for Excellence in the Non-Operated Plant and Support Products category for EZiDIG at the SED headquarters in Sutton, Surrey.

The awards were given to the most innovative new products introduced to the UK market during the past year and judged by an independent panel of industry experts, including representatives from Off-Highway Research Ltd, the International Powered Access Federation, Edmund Nuttall, The Concrete Society, PJ Brown Ltd and Gap Group.

A key product in the Scanlaser Complete Project Solutions Offering, EZiDIG is the world’s first excavator mounted buried service avoidance tool. It aims to cut the amount of damage caused to buried services by excavators, reduce risks to excavator operators, decrease project downtime and enhance productivity. Developed by Cable Detection, it sets the standard for avoiding buried services during excavation.

The new EZiDIG, aimed at construction and utility contractors, detects buried services while the excavator is being used. The EZiDIG Sensor unit is attached to the excavator dipper arm and communicates in real time with the excavator driver when it locates electromagnetic signals emitted by buried metallic services up to two metres from the sensor unit, thus avoiding costly and dangerous cable strikes.

This is the second award for the EZiDIG, having already won an OPERC award for Outstanding Contribution to Health and Safety for Buried Services in March of this year. Released into the market in February, the EZiDIG is already a massive success story across the UK.

Scanlaser as the official sales distribution channel for the EZiDIG System have been working closely with Cable Detection throughout the design of the product to ensure that sales and support personnel are fully trained and prepared, guaranteeing a best in class installation and support for this new product.

As a leading supplier of machine control in the UK market, Scanlaser have been able to add the EZiDIG to their product basket with ease. Already selling excavator guidance systems such as the Mikrofyn XC2 system, into the UK, Scanlaser have the perfect customer and market knowledge to support the huge demand for this revolutionary new product.
